Chastized

Last night I didn't go to bed until around 2:00 so I was tired and didn't want to read my scriptures. I decided just to open to a random scripture and read a verse. I landed on 3 Nephi 23:1

"And now, behold I say unto you, that ye ought to search these things. Yea, a commandment I give unto you that ye search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah."

I think I'll apply that tomorrow night.

I'm Having a Baby! It's a Boy!

Don't worry, I am NOT having a baby!

But the kid sitting next to me in the library sure is!

And he is making sure everyone in the library knows it too!

I can't decide if I'm annoyed by his constant shouts of "I'm having a baby! It's a boy!" and his continual talk of names and ultrasounds etc.

or if I think it's really cute that he is soo excited that he needs to share his pride with the world.

probably a mix......

oh, there he goes again.

"I'm having a baby! It's a boy!"

What Goes Around, Comes Around

We have a room at work where we store all our models, decorations, and whatever else needs to be stored. I take great pride in organizing that room.

I have "quit" my job and then gone back several times over the years. Every time I go back my beautiful organized room is filled with new junk and I get to clean it all up again.

One of these times (about a year ago) I came back to work to see that we had gotten new dentist chairs, which was great! But it meant that all the old dentist chairs we put in my nicely organized room and you could no longer even walk through the door! So, with the permission (or should I say challenge) of Dr. Summers to get rid of them, I sent out a mass text. Dr. Summers was impressed with my efficiency  :)

The chairs were given to loving homes
(although they may not have been the nicest homes)

A few months ago Dr. Summers said he was driving home and he saw these two girls carrying something across the street. As he got closer he realized it was his dentist chair! "Now, that's not something you see every day!" When he got home he called his wife over and they watched the scene from their window. It was slow work as the girls took 3 steps and then they would stop to rest.

I looked into this story a little more and learned that the girls were playing a prank on the boys who owned the dentist chair and were taking it to their own apartment at Kensington. The boys were more than glad to be rid of it. The girls soon discovered that the chair leaks oil. Not a good situation and I guess the boys eventually took the chair back.

I went to Ohio last weekend and when I came home, what do you think I saw? The dentist chair! Right in the middle of our living room! Apparently my FHE group had played Bigger & Better and this was their "better." The best part is that most people in the group had no idea that the chair had actually originated with me! Oh the irony!

Luckily, my FHE brother had always wanted the Dentist chair and was happy to bring it to his apartment. The chair is back in a loving home, ready for the next adventure to come its way.

The moral of the story is - what goes around, really does come around

22

I have never had a hard time with birthdays and getting older, but this year was different. Not that my life is bad - I feel extremely blessed! - but I just never imagined my life would be how it is when I turned 22. Mostly it comes down to the fact that everyone I know is leaving, I am about to graduate and I have NO idea what I am going to do with myself. I am scared to death!

Last night my roommate had already gone to bed and the light was already off. Not wanting to wake her with the light, I opened my scriptures randomly and read by the light of my phone:

"Verily I say unto you my friends, fear not, let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore, and in everything give thanks;

Waiting patiently on the Lord, for your prayers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded with this seal and testament - the Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted.

Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and my names glory, saith the Lord."

Doctrine and Covenants 98:1-3

I read these verses over and over. Although the circumstances this was given was different, I feel that I was being spoken to directly. I am going through my own affliction of a different kind. I know the Lord is aware of me and my needs and that He will never leave me alone. I am so grateful for the gospel in my life and for the  plan that my Heavenly Father has for me.

Now I just need the patience to follow that plan....

A Night Out

This semester in my apartment we have 4 seniors (me, Kandace, Cherise and Krista) and 2 freshman (Lauren and Bre) Needless to say, it has not been the easiest group to mesh together.

Yesterday, Lauren and Bre had people over ALL day! I don't even know what you can do for that long in one apartment! This left Cherise and I trapped in the back waiting for everyone to go home so we could emerge. (Kandace and Krista are both gone for the weekend) Like I said, they were over ALL day, so this didn't happen for quite some time. We didn't even feel like we could eat out there, so I took my breakfast back to Cherise's room and ate it on the floor while Cherise did homework. We tried to fill our day with worth-while activities while we were trapped back there, but you can only do so much homework. Cherise decided to take a nap, so I decided to go home (which is empty because everyone went to Utah) were I at least had space to move. I did laundry, homework, talked to Katelyn, more homework, took a nap, blog stalked, and then Cherise texted me and asked where I was. I realized it was 8:00 and I had left her alone this whole time! I went back and we decided we NEEDED to get out of the apartment. (the all day party is still going on)

We began our little outing by going out to dinner because Cherise hadn't been able to eat all day because of the people at our apartment. We went to Costa Vida (replaced Bajio) where Cherise got a burrito.

I called in and took a survey so I could get free chips and salsa. I love free stuff!

We brainstormed some ideas of what to do next because we were sure the party at our apartment wasn't over. We thought of our steady backup of #9, but they all have girlfriends/finances, so they weren't likely to be available on a Saturday night. After going through our phones, we realized that we have a severe shortage of friends. We decided to visit Jaren because we both know him and he lives in a really cool log cabin. He didn't answer when we called, but we decided to go anyway.

When we got there we saw that they had a big fire going in their front yard. Perfect! as we walked over Jaren called me back and I told him we were in his front yard and he should invite us over to the cool bon fire they were having. Done!

A little later, Jaren and Chrerise's friend, Blake, came over too. (He was actually invited) Cherise and I thought it was pretty funny because he was one of our brainstorming ideas. He was a fun guy and it was nice to meet someone new in my life.

We stayed until just before midnight and when we returned, the party at our apartment was still going on.

The good news is I am finally getting to bed a descent hour because there is nothing else to do with our front room always taken :)
