Two Weeks of Fun

Week One

My week of fun started in Rexburg, where I got to hang out with fun people (and forgot to take pictures of most of them)

Me, Chloe, and....

Seagulls?

When did Rexburg get seagulls!?

Braden showing me his motorcycle

Friday

Krisann's Wedding!

Becca and I were best friends in 5th grade and she ended up marrying Krisann's brother!
It's so fun to get to see her and her adorable little baby, Maddie!

Krisann is gorgeous!

This was my first time driving farther than Logan, so I was a little / a lot nervous about it. Because she is a good friend, Chelsey cam with me to calm my nerves. She is so great! To celebrate my great accomplishment, we went to Kneaders for the Kids Meal, complete with toy!

Saturday

My first time at Summer Fest!

Summer Fest is basically a giant craft fair. They had all kind of booths from photography, metal work  and leather making, to pottery and hammocks. They also had a Shakespear company putting on a play and Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband!

Ashlee and I got chinese food, and it was so good!

During Dream Big, these random guys cam up and asked us to dance. I made sure to get the whole thing on video  :)

If you missed it, the lady in the video had made the boys ask the girls to dance, and she didn't even know who they where! I thought that was pretty fun. Made the girls' night though!

Week Two

At church I had a great conversation about "Ladders" and went to my first Animated Movie Night.

Monday

Home Evening where we created "The Man Channel"

I guess the man race isn't quite ready for their own channel yet  :)

Tuesday

Ashlee's Birthday!

Look at that cake!

Theses are the amazing minds behind the masterpiece.

Wednesday

We had a "Ward Hike"
Apparently, this is all there is to the ward.

We had fun though, and only suffered minor injuries.

Cameron sprang his ankle and I stubbed my toe....

As always, I wore my trusty hiking shoes. On the way down it was dark and I stubbed my toe. It wasn't a big deal, and I kept hiking. Soon, I felt like I was squishing and sliding in my shoe. We shined the flash light on my foot and I was standing in a puddle of blood! (The above picture is after it had already been cleaned up and bled completely through the first bandaid)

Luckily, Dave was there to bandage me up, good as new!

Thursday

We cleaned the church. We may or may not have gone because it said there would be pizza served after. Unfortunately, when all was said and done, there was no pizza to be found! Half the group decided to go out to Firehouse and the other (cooler) half decided to have a homemade pizza party.

It was so good! This is us toasting with pineapple juice.

Friday

I went to Bear Lake for a family reunion. It was fun to see family that I haven't seen in a decade (literally). Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so I don't have a single picture. Highlights were learning to play Mormon Bridge and talking with the Ryskamps.

Saturday

On the way home, Mom and Dad came through Logan and helped me move into my new apartment! Best parents ever!

We took a little break for lunch at Kneaders. We had to get the frozen hot chocolate.

Catherine was so great to help me move! I'm so excited that she will still be my roommate!

Mom and Dad left and I went to take a nap after all the moving when Porter texted me and asked if I was going to Logan's reception. I guess I am now! It was so pretty!

It was such a good night! I miss these boys so much! We have all been through a lot together and we are like family. We honestly need to be together more often.

It has been a good two weeks  :)

Ladders

Confession: Last week I skipped Sunday School.

Instead, I talked to this guy named Cameron Copeland.

Cameron has this theory about dating called the Ladder.

The boys ladder is a basic, up and down ladder. When a girl gets on, she starts as an acquaintance, and then moves up and down the ladder depending on how the guy is feeling about her. She is evaluated daily and can move up or down depending on how the guy is feeling about her that day. If she reaches the top, they are dating/relationship. Sometimes a girl can make it to the top, and then fall off the ladder completely. Sometimes she'll reach the top and then move back down.

The girl's ladder is a bit more complicated. It starts the same, with acquaintance on the bottom and the guy moves up and down. But, Then the ladder splits into two - one side is the Friend Ladder, and the other is the Lover Ladder. Sometime a girl can keep a guy on the main Acquaintance Ladder for a long time, even years, while she trys to decide which ladder he will be placed at. Once a guy is placed, there is rarely ever a chance to change. The girl gets to choose, and the guy has no idea where he is placed, at least not at first.
Sometimes after a guy realizes he is on the Friend Ladder, he will try to make "the leap." This means he trys to jump from the Friend Ladder to the Lover Ladder. There are three places the guy can end up. The first is on the Lover Ladder, but these are very rare. The second is back on the Friend Ladder, only lower than before and it is difficult to reach your previous height again. The third place to land is The Pit, or the black hole that sucks you in and you can never be friends again because it is so awkward.

I found this Ladder theory, at least in my experience, to be pretty accurate.

This, of course, lead us to the never ending question: can guys and girls be friends?

My current conclusion: Yes, they can be friends, but they can only reach a certain point of friendship. You can't be "best friends." If you are best friends, you should probably be dating, and if you're not dating, one or the other is thinking about dating, which is, at the very least, going to cause complications in your friendship. In MY life (and this is MY blog, which tells about MY life) this has never been proven wrong.

The confusion all lies in the definition of "friend"

Was this a good use of my Sunday School time? That's debatable.

You know you have a good dad when . . . .

he watches the Bachelorette with you and has his favorites, oppinions on who should be kicked off,
and explains how the rose ceremony works to my mom.

Happy Fathers Day to the most selfless guy I know.
I love you!

For My Future Husband

Dear Future Husband,

In 10 minutes, my life as I have known it for the past 23 years, was changed forever.

Today, I gave you a gift.

For you, I gave away a piece of me.... literally.

My skin was shaved, and then burned (and I could smell it)

Today, I had my birthmark removed.

You better appreciate it, Future Husband.

Love,
Future Wife

p.s.  you owe me

The Return of my Old Friend

I used to be really into indexing. Like, really into indexing. And because I loved indexing, I decided everyone else should love it too, so I started indexing parties! I was called (finally!) as the Indexing Coordinator and our ward won first place for indexing!

It has been six months since I moved to Logan and the bishopric has been released, but the indexing parties still continue! I know because I frequently get text messages "inviting" me, or saying they are doing it in my honor. I swell with motherly pride every time I receive one of these.... but then comes the guilt.

I have guilt because, if I was honest, I would have to say that it has been almost a year since I last did indexing. I am ashamed.

Last Sunday, I decided to go to the Family History class and see how it was. Let me tell you how it was -

It was like welcoming back an old friend!

It felt so good!

Today, Indexing gave me three badge:

Looks like I got back into indexing just in time!

I am so proud  :)

Hopefully, I won't let go so easily this time (the marriage and birth certificates did me in. Thank goodness the Census reports are back) I might even get into the actual family history part of it!

Welcome back old friend.

Chelsey & Nikole

For the past three days my roommates have been gone and I have had the apartment to myself. This might sound nice to some people, but I hate being alone. So, Yesterday I joined Chelsey and Nikoles apartment! They were so sweet to take me in! We had a fun-packed day full of adventure and I have my camera back so I could actually document it!

notice the man back there has the same shirt as me (almost)!
Not even planned.

we had originally planned to take a hike with a group at 7:30, but it got canceled so we went to the Farmers Market instead!

Then we went on our own "hike" which I didn't know we were planning on doing, thus the clothes and shoes I am wearing. It wouldn't have been much better if I had known though - I would have been wearing my sandals instead :)

Touching the end of the hike!

We were a little hungry after, so we made a trip to Gossners! This place is magical! They have a whole cheese bar and you can sample as much as you want! Believe me, I take full advantage of it. To top it off, we got chocolate milk for 35 cents!

After a quick nap (we were still up early for the 7:30 hike before we knew it was canceled) and trip to Wal-Mart for some last minute ingredients we made homemade pizza and watched Little Rascals. They just don't make movies like they did back then.

This is Eric getting ready to barbecue on Memorial day, which was also a way  fun day, but this is the only picture I took of it.

That was the end of my picture taking, but the fun didn't stop! I went with Chelsey to a friends game night. I made Scotcheroos (a big hit, as always) so that they would accept me, since I didn't actually know anyone there. When I walked in, who is the first person I see?  Eric/Patux! I was so glad I knew someone! We played Reverse Charades - so fun!

I went home, ready to start laundry in my empty apartment, when there was a knock at the door. (So you know, people don't come to out apartment. When someone knocks we all just stare at the door in disbelief wondering what we should do.) After getting over the initial shock of the knock, I answered it to see two guys who introduced themselves as my new neighbors! They wanted to know when church was, and this was followed by an actual conversation! This might not sound that impressive, but I think this is the first person who has made an effort to get to know me since I got here! (I know other people, but I actually met them before I even officially moved here) It was kind of a big deal to me. Unfortunately, I won't be their neighbor for much longer, but on the bright side, we will still be in the same ward!

Then I started my laundry at 11:30 at night. I painted my nails, watched Finding Neverland, and fell asleep on the couch waiting for it to finish. Kind of an anti-climactic finish, but it was a great day!

p.s. Chelsey is going to be my new roommate when I move! I am so excited! I wish Nikole was too, but she has to leave so I can move in  :)
